National ELIC Conference 2012
The annual ELIC conference took place in Addis Ababa at the Ghion Hotel from March 27-29th, 2012. All 11 regions were represented. Fifty-nine institutions were invited in which 52 participated. All 11 Regional Education Bureaus were requested to send a representative, of which 3 attended. In total, there were 96 participants and 7 guests, including Mr. Ronnie Micallef from the British Council, Ato Surafel Ayele and Ato Mitiku Tsegaye (two representatives from the Ethiopian English Language Teachers’ Association (EELTA), two students from Debre Birhan Unversity, Ato Theodoros Shewarget and a representative of the minister of education who opened the conference.
There were 25 presentations: 11 led by Ethiopians, 10 led by VSO/IFESH/Peace Corps and 4 led by both.

To exchange of ideas, opinions and best practices
To create a platform for open discussion and debate
To create resources both in soft and hard copies
To facilitate networking at a regional level between ELIC coordinators
To improve the supportive role of the Ministry of Education/REBs in the running of the ELICs
